Working with and reporting into the Vice President, the Business Development Director will be accountable for driving the growth of the producer responsibility organization (PRO) services and compliance business by cementing strong relationships that will position Ryse Solutions as a leader in the evolution of producer responsibility and circular economy services in Canada, with a focus on Ontario to start.

This position develops sales and growth strategies and will be responsible for the execution of business development and market share plans as well as customer engagement which will accelerate Ryse Solution’s growth.

Achieving success will include optimizing the growth potential, understanding specific industry characteristics by business segment, including key needs, exceeding or meeting year over year growth and profit objectives; creating and utilizing Ryse Solutions sales tools within a consultative sales framework, developing competitor intelligence; and collaborating with Compliance and Operations team members on services, compliance, and pricing.

The Business Development Director will be responsible for:


  • Development of new areas of the business including new partners and clients while also supporting and fostering great relationships with existing customers
  • Contributing to revenue growth and sales results to cement Ryse Solutions as a leader as reputable, innovative, client-focused and nimble multi-material producer responsibility organization
  • Developing the business development plans for all regulated programs and materials that Ryse currently or will provides services in
  • Achievement of objectives of the business development plans, meeting and exceeding sales targets and timeframes, while driving results and contributing to the creation of business development strategic and annual operating plans
  • Managing and maintaining long-term relationships and credibility across industry sectors using top notch relationship management skills and knowledge of industry and latest customer trends
  • Responsibility for setting up CRM system and train business development and management staff on the use of the system, including the reporting functionality
  • Tracking and identifying new growth opportunities using CRM system
  • Ensuring client information, sales leads and other data in CRM system are accurate and up to date to provide transparency and visibility of pipeline
  • Coaching and mentoring business development staff
  • Networking with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices
  • Broadening relationships with stakeholders to drive more strategic discussions and entrenchment with Ryse Solutions
  • Building sales and industry presentations to elevate profile of Ryse Solutions as a leader in the space
  • Sharing feedback on the services, processes, etc. to internal stakeholders to ensure continual enhancement of the offerings
  • Working across multi-disciplined teams to ensure cohesive and detailed business developments plans are developed, executed, and reported to senior executives with regular dashboards to ensure the business is successful
  • Supporting the Vice President and business as required

Who are you?

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Extensive business development experience with a proven track record of delivering profitable business growth
  • A leader that takes an insightful and thorough approach and understands the producer responsibility and compliance landscape
  • Seasoned at working in a fast-paced environment with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Able to deliver results, prioritize activities, manage time effectively and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  • Proficient at working with internal and external customers in a professional and effective manner to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Passionate about growing the business and enabling producers to achieve their compliance and circular economy goals
  • Can convey technical concepts and have a proven track record of managing initiatives, solving problems, and applying effective planning skills to deliver initiatives successfully
  • A team-oriented leader with a collaborative approach that will build trust across the organization and deliver top and bottom-line results
