DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
We are accepting application for the new position of Director of Education to oversee all education related departments: T’lisa̱lagi’lakw School, Post Secondary Education, Training & Employment and a new department, Kwak’wala Language Revitalization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the School operates in accordance with the Independent Schools Act and ‘Namgis Education Policies
- Develop and implement an annual work plan that aligns with strategic goals and objectives
- Direct, oversee and manage Principal, Post Secondary Coordinator, Training & Employment Coordinator and Language Coordinator ensuring a positive, safe and respectful work and learning environment
- Supervise the development and delivery of curricular and special programs
- Develop, implement and report on the annual Education budget as required
- Liaise with School District 85 as required
- Ensure that students’ needs are addressed to achieve success
- Evaluate performance of staff at least once annually and as required
- Meet regularly with staff to foster a communication based environment
- Report to ‘Namgis Administration regularly and as required
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the community through information sharing and communicating regularly and as required
- Other related duties as may be required
Job Qualifications:
- M.Ed in Educational Administration or a related field
- Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers
- 2 years related experience in a First Nations environment
- Familiarity with FNESC is an asset
