The Driver Trainer’s role is to ensure that all new drivers are properly on-boarded, trained and maintained throughout their employment at Wheel King. This role ensures quality of drivers through continuous follow up and correction. This role ensures that we are bringing on new, quality drivers quicker than we are terminating them or having them resign. This role will improve the retention numbers and decrease the number of drivers leaving the company. The Driver Recruiter & Safety Coordinator will be jointly responsible for ensuring that the company is meeting its profitability goals by ensuring that we have enough quality/volume of drivers required to aid the planning and operations department in achieving on-time pick-ups and deliveries for our customers.
Primary Objectives
Safety & Compliance
- Reviewing and updating our policy and procedures, checklists, applications, letters.
- Ensuring company compliance with MTO/DOT/FMCSA
- Contribution to the management and maintenance of our CVOR
- Periodic in-house audit of Safety Department
- Driver Maintenance, discipline and follow ups
- Driver training
- Hiring new, quality drivers
- Diversifying the culture of our fleet (Which will help us combat losing too many drivers to cultural holidays/events at one time
- Retaining current driving fleet
- Aiding the Safety department in processing, auditing and termination (if applicable) of any current drivers that face recurring infractions/claims etc.
- Developing recruitment/retention strategies/programs
- Implementing recruitment strategies/programs
- Implementing continued career progression plans with each driver, ensuring that they are well educated on HOW they can achieve greater salaries, bonus etc.
- Reviewing and updating safety policy and procedures, checklists, applications, letters and MTO/DOT/FMCSA rules, regulations and requirements
Position Details:
Driver Recruiting
- Ensuring that company goals are met for number of new (quality) hires per designated time period
- Ensuring that proper strategic moves are made in order to gain driver market exposure for Wheel King
- Developing and implementing driver recruiting program both SHORT TERM and LONG TERM
- Working with operations / company to ensure that drivers are on-boarded according to company/customer needs
Driver Retention
- Ensuring that all driver complaints / concerns are properly addressed and communicated through to the proper channels
- Ensuring that drivers understand how to efficiently and safely manage their logs and runs in order to achieve personal expectations
- Ensuring that drivers are felt not only wanted, but respected and relied upon.
- Increasing average length of employment per driver, company-wide.
Driver Turn-Over
- Ensuring that we are not losing drivers faster than we are hiring
Additional
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned or directed by management as necessary to ensure the continued success of Wheel King and all departments/affiliates
Requirements :
Skills & Abilities

- Strong knowledge of North American trucking regulations and geography
- Strong knowledge of ELD / HOS regulations and laws

Education & Experience
- This position generally requires at least 5+ years of related recruiting experience
- Commercial Driving Experience (AZ)

- Ability to assist in yard/training activities that relate to driving a commercial Semi
- Ability to view computer screen for long periods of time
