Your opportunity:
The Event Planning & Communications Assistant (EPCA) is an integral member of a team of administrative and student services professionals who work together to achieve excellent services in the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering. The functional natureof the responsibilities within the Student Services team will provide the EPCA with exposure to many aspects of student services, internal and external relations, and require the EPCA to enthusiastically work with other team members as needed to achieve the goals of the Department. Under supervision of the Director of Student Services and External Relations (DSSER) , the EPCA supports senior administrators in many aspects of departmental activities, including all aspects of student services, alumni relations, internal and external relations, and Event Planning.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Analyzing client needs and making recommendations on event logistics and options
-Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
-Disseminating event-related information
-Resolving issues that may occur during events and escalating problems as required
-Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms
-Writing and editing digital communications
-Editing content for style and tone
 
Essential Qualifications:
 

Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
-Minimum three (3) years’ of recent and related experience in events management and administration
-Experience with logistical coordination of small to large scale events, meetings and conferences
-Experience supporting the implementation of communications and marketing plans, including print, media, and social media platforms
-Experience writing a
 nd editing content for publication
-Experience and proficiency in using design software (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva)
-Experience maintaining information on digital platforms (e.g. websites, newsletters, social media)
-Ability to work under pressure on multiple assignments requiring attention to detail, with time-sensitive deadlines
-Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgement
-Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); WordPress, Drupal, or similar content management systems; and social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
-Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

USW Pay Band 08 -- $61,600 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $78,775. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
