About this opportunity:
Cenovus is currently looking for a Facilities Engineer-In-Training to join the Cenovus team!
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Engineering (Instrumentation, Process Controls, and Instrumentation) – the Facility Engineer, EIT is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary function in Cenovus’s Canadian Thermal Conventional Heavy Oil (CTCHO) assets.
The Facility Engineer, EIT will work under the guidance and mentorship of a senior engineer assisting in the design and implementation of small to medium sized facility changes using Cenovus’s Management of Change Process.
What you’ll do:
  • Provide Process Controls Engineering support to plant operations and field based Operational Technology teams for Cenovus CTCHO facilities.
  • Support the design and implementation of Process Controls Engineering Work Package (EWP) results including preparing and development of instrumentation data sheets, loop diagrams, instrument indexes, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, shutdown keys, and control narratives.
  • Work with Process Engineering teams to develop and modify process controls schemes to support facility operator effectiveness programs.
  • Apply Alarm Management methodology to design and implementation of EWP.
  • Liaison to Operation Technology team to support replacement in kind or obsolescence of DCS technology initiatives, including small scale PLC replacement, integration of Third Party or Vendor installation to the facility Process Controls Network.
  • Support the integration of process controls systems such as RTU, PLC, and DCS.
  • Liaison to other subject area engineering teams such as Mechanical and Process to support process integration to the facility process controls network.
  • Adhere to the Cenovus Management of Change (MOC) work process, ensuring systematic identification, analysis and review of facility changes to minimize risk.
  • Participate as ICE representative in Risk Assessment, Hazard Assessment and HAZOPs as required.
  • Participate in Engineering Investigations (EI) and Management of Change (MOC) requests on behalf of partners.
  • Support Operations, Maintenance, and site engineering teams in framing and scoping Process Control engineering requests.
  • Learn and keep up to date with Cenovus technical specifications, industry standard processes, and new technology.
Who you are:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in engineering
  • Registered or eligible for registration of EIT status with APEGA or APEGS.
  • 1+ years of experience in facilities engineering and design in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineers and Designers.
  • Flexible and able to meet the objectives of a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and efficient in time management
  • Capacity to manage a dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset
