We are currently recruiting for a Bridges Family Support Worker in Medicine Hat and rural areas.
Bridges is an early intervention and prevention initiative that is designed to support families in providing a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for their child(ren) and is part of the Family Resource Network in Alberta. Bridges focuses on supporting families to meet their basic needs; strengthening parent/child attachment and responsive caregiving, supporting the development of healthy relationships; increasing health and wellbeing, strengthening parenting skills including their knowledge of child and youth development and connecting them to community resources and services. Key Responsibilities:
§ Maintain a trusting, supportive relationship with families by providing information and support through regular home visits, meetings, phone calls, case conferences, etc.
§ Support families in the Medicine Hat and rural areas.
§ Utilize a family-centered approach to assist families in developing personal and family goals.
§ At the request of an individual, advocate with them or on their behalf.
§ Assist individuals in accessing community resources.
§ Work collaboratively with Service providers.
§ Maintain program participant files.
§ Participate in association and program promotion activities.
§ Enter statistical data into a computer data base.
Qualifications:
§ Certificate, Diploma or Degree or related experience (3 years) in a Human Service Field.
§ Strong interpersonal communication, organization and administrative skills.
§ Experience in strength-based, family-centered Family Support practice.
§ Knowledgeable of community resources and services preferred.
§ An understanding of the diversity, customs and traditions of Indigenous people and diverse
multicultural experience is an asset.
§ Experience working with computers, email and internet.
Must have daily access to a reliable, insured vehicle with current registration, insurance and have a valid drivers license. Thisposition will be 40 hours per week. The work week is flexible, with day, evening and weekends. The starting date will be in March 2024. The wage for this position is $22.50 -23.25 per hour, depending on education and experience.
