- Working with the senior management team to ensure the successful planting, production, harvest, storage, and delivery of the crops for your location
- Develop agronomic field plans in partnership with Agronomy Manager & CEO
- Scout & monitor fields for crop staging, weeds, disease, or nutrition deficiency in partnership with the Agronomy manager
- Supervise in-field tasks such as seeding, spraying, harvest
- Maintain crop condition in storage
- Assign work tasks to staff
- Train and mentor staff
- Prepare Repair and Maintenance budgets
- Ensure proactive maintenance of equipment is performed at regular service intervals
- Ensure accurate record of farm activity
- Lead your team, and in the busy seasons participate in:
- Fill in where and when other employees are not available with priority given to training and developing other staff over personally operating equipment;
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Maintaining & procuring shop supplies and parts inventory;
- The safe operation of all farm equipment;
- Coordinate the movement of grain, seed, fertilizer, & farm chemicals; and,
- Maintaining the farm fields, yards, and buildings to organizational standards
- Farm experience, preferably in a leadership role
- Capacity to operate and maintain farming equipment
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
- Knowledge of crop market trends
- Experience in the management of a farm budget; capacity to make planting and harvesting decisions
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field is preferred
- A valid driver's license is required, along with a satisfactory driver's abstract
