Summary of Position
The F&B Server delivers outstanding hospitality to all of our guests, showcasing their passion for hospitality, food, and wine together. Building a thorough knowledge of our menu and products servers ensure our guests feel welcome, informed, and leave with the expectations exceeded. Personality, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously. The F&B Server has a dynamic opportunity to work in our restaurant operations and our event programming (at the discretion of the management team).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Be on the floor in full uniform and ready to go for scheduled start time.
- Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies).
- Prepare tables by sanitizing at the beginning of each shift and setting as required.
- Offer menu recommendations upon request.
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate.
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using the POS.
- Make educated wine pairing suggestions for guests’ food orders.
- Serve food and drink orders.
- Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems.
- Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area.
- Deliver checks and collect bill payments.
- Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to the servery for cleaning.
- Meet with staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties). Inform guests about the day’s features.
- Meet with event staff and manager to review the ETS (Event Tech Sheet) for the event
- Understand all details of the event and be prepared to answer questions from guests, when unsure find a supervisor or manager to assist you and/or the guest.
- Carry canapés and offer them to guests providing them with a description.
- Greet and escort/direct guests to their tables.
- Rely any food allergies to the Kitchen Staff.
- Ensure all guests have water throughout their dinner.
- Pour wine table side for guests.
- Serve food to guests as a team.
- Clear dirty dishes using team service techniques.
- Prepare tea and coffee at the service station.
- Provide tea and coffee service to guests using team service techniques.
- Tear down and clean up all event spaces used.
- Check guests’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
- Act as an ambassador to Nova Scotia’s food and wine culture with personal experience and recommendations.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies, and outstanding hospitality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Food Safety & Serve Right Certification desirable
- 2 years or more of food & beverage service experience required
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills

- Hands-on experience with cash register and point of sales system (e.g. Clover)
- Basic math skills
- Attentiveness and patience for customers
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment

- Team spirit
- Flexibility to work in shifts and ability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays
