Who we are: Mascon
Mascon, based in Salmon Arm, has been a cable operator since 1983. A family-run business from the start, Mascon maintains its local roots with strong community involvement. We joined the TELUS team in January, 2017 and continue to operate and sell internet and TV over our cable network in 14+ communities throughout B.C.
Our team and what we’ll accomplish together
We provide technical support and provisioning for all customer premise equipment, finding the best global communications and home entertainment solutions for our residential and business customers. Helping customers solve their technology issues, configuring equipment, monitoring our network, and working with the team to track and manage reliability metrics.
What you’ll do in this role:
You will collaborate with our small team of technicians and leaders on a daily basis to carry out five integral roles:
- Lead the pre-fielding of subscriber properties
- Analyze and repair existing Internet/TV/VOIP service challenges
- Discover new Internet/TV/VOIP service issues and create solutions before problems can become customer impacting
- Maintain and repair HFC and FTTH outside plant infrastructure.
- Support leading 3.1 RPHY node deployment and new growth builds
**Travel will be a requirement for this position which will include driving to various job sites in the region. In some cases, you might be close enough to home that you can drive back at the end of the day. In some cases, you may be required overnight stay and will be provided advance notice**
What you bring
- Must have technical proficiency and familiarity with consumer electronics: computers, network devices, home theatre
- Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, and their inter-workings
- Ability to manage physically demanding work (in all weather) and working aloft, in accordance with Worksafe policies
- Demonstrated effective decision-making skills while under limited supervision
- Must maintain a high level of performance under pressure of time constraints
- Ability to handle favourable/unfavourable customer interactions in fluent English with excellent communication skills
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license (driver's abstract will be required)
- Must have a minimum Grade 12 education (with preference for two-year college diploma in technology/electronics)
- Ability to travel for work, potential overnight and on-call availability
Great-to-haves
Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:
- Installation and repair of coaxial cable and related equipment (STB's/Modems/EMTA’s)
- Installation of phone and/or alarm systems and wiring
- Fiber splicing (mechanical or fusion)
- Familiarity with inside and outside plant facilities (including basic Head end functions)
*Actual total compensation can be above or below the posted pay, based on knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $62,000.00-$92,000.00 per year
