Gateway Community Health Centre, located in the picturesque village of Tweed, in beautiful Hastings County, offers a range of comprehensive primary health care and health promotion programs and we are currently inviting applications to join our Senior Leadership Team in the role of Finance Manager.
The Financial Manager works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and is accountable for the financial health of the organization. Gateway CHC is a government funded, not-for-profit, charitable corporation. This is a dynamic role for someone who is skilled in financial operations, but also enjoys working collaboratively in a team and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Operational Finance Management, and Analyses
- Maintains financial systems consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the reporting requirements of the Centre’s funder(s).
- Analyzes financial data to create financial projections, prepare annual operational budget(s) and funding envelopes.
- Monitors the organization’s risk register and prepares semi-annual report to the Finance Committee.
- Responsible for the Centre's accounting systems (payroll, revenue, accounts receivable/payable), annual audit, year-end processes and quarterly reporting.
Planning and Forecasting and Reporting
- Ensure that the Centre’s financial resources, planning and supportive systems are administered effectively within policy, strategic priorities, and funding agreements.
- Provides ongoing research and analysis reporting to Chief Executive Officer to support change management.
- Oversees the maintenance of Capital Registry of Assets and non-disposable inventory records.
- Prepares core budget submissions for various partners and funders.
- Responsible for financial reporting to the funder(s) i.e.: Ontario Health, Standards/Management Information Systems (OHRS/MIS), Self-Reporting Initiative (SRI) and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements of Provincial and Federal legislation.
Employee Compensation and Benefits
- Monitors benefit packages for market competitive advantage to attract and retain employees for the Gateway CHC.
- Oversees and approves the payroll process.
Staff Supervision
- Supervises team members and activities in the finance team.
Skills and Qualifications
Requirements for this position include:
- 5-7 years’ experience in financial management of a charitable, not-for profit corporation
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving skills, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Evidence of sound judgement and ability to maintain confidential information
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Certified Management Accountant designation (CGA, CMA, CA), an asset
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software, payroll programs and applications and financial information systems
- Management experience preferred with the ability to supervise staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
Compensation Package
Gateway offers a compensation package that includes a comprehensive benefits package, including Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and four (4) weeks of vacation time.
