Position Title: Financial Analyst - Margin Integrity
Team and Location: Canada Finance - Calgary, AB
Starting Minimum Salary from: $79,600/year
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Financial Analyst is a key member of the Canada Finance Team, performing analysis on one of Parkland's key revenue drivers (fuel margins). They are responsible for the accuracy and financial integrity of all fuel margin transactions and validates that the data is captured correctly at the site level. They will provide weekly fuel margin reporting to key stakeholders as well as participate in the month end reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Check, verify and reconcile by site, all transaction journals related to revenue and COGS to ensure accuracy of fuel margins (i.e. Weighted average cost of inventory, rack price, freight, profee, brand value, provincial and federal fuel taxes, TVA's/TVAR etc.)
- Provide weekly fuel margin and volume analytics to key stakeholders
- Research and respond to day-to-day enquiries from VP's and Management to provide insights and analysis into Canada's fuel margins
- Validate that all sites are settled by end of month and any entries or accruals are recorded to ensure accuracy of fuel margins
- Preparation of monthly financial management reports to Retail Leadership Team on fuel margins by site (approximately 2,000+ sites)
- Monitor and validate all daily files into JDE related to fuel transactions
- Work with Operations and Pricing Teams to calculate and update freight rates on a Bi-annual basis
- Provide finance business partnership to teams across the organization by understanding and supporting strategic business priorities, challenges and impacts
- Foster continuous improvement in the finance team, challenge the status quo and play a leading role in increasing effectiveness and efficiency of deliverables
- Provide insightful analysis and support for ad-hoc requests from various stakeholders
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent (CFA, MBA)
- 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Experience working with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, and DAS are an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with an approachable manner
- Strong Excel Skills and ERP experience (JDE an asset)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
