Finish Grader Operator *2024 Season*

We are looking down the road to the 2024 season and seeking to hire some high-quality talent with applicable industry experience and knowledge. We already have a busy season ahead of us with the work expected to begin spring of 2024 (as soon as mother nature allows). Reporting to the Grading Foreman, the Finish Grader Operator is responsible for operating the grader in a safe and effective manner in order to ensure the roadways are accessible, safe, and in good operating condition. The ability to grade within a 10mm tolerance is a must, as well as experience grading gravel for the purpose of placing asphalt or concrete.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The ability to grade gravel within a 10mm tolerance.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain depth and slope as required.
• 3+ years of operating a grader for the purpose of road or parking lot construction.
• Previous experience with fine grading and finishing of gravel for paving.
• Knowledge of Topcon GPS and grade control systems.
• Assists other employees when required.
• Behaves in a safe manner. Reports incidents, injuries and near misses. Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
• Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
• Complies with the standards and procedures of North Star’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Minimum 3 year experience as a Finish Grader Operator.
• Knowledge of grade stakes and job specs.
• Knowledge of Topcon GPS equipment.
• Construction Safety Training System (CSTS2020) Certification.
• Ground Disturbance.
• Ability to operate other forms of heavy equipment would be considered an asset.
• Self-motivating and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
• Problem solver.
• Must be able to work as a member of a team.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must have own transportation.
• Must be able to work long hours and weekends.
• Must have CSA-approved safety boots.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time in a bouncing seat.
• Must be able to constantly check all surroundings.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Salary: Up to $42.00 per hour
