Grader Operator

Carmacks Enterprises Ltd. is a civil contractor, specializing in road, bridge and maintenance construction for over 40 years. We are currently seeking a Grader Operator for our Alberta Highways Division for the 2024 construction season. The work site will be in various locations around the Alberta area.

What is the role?

• Operates grader controls to regulate height and angle of the grader blade.
• Performs daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Ensures a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
• Operates grader, observing reference stakes or hand signals of other workers, to the specified grade.
• Operates Grader on public roadways, safely and efficiently, with continuous awareness of surroundings.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the grader.
• Ensures grader is in proper gear and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
• Demonstrates an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
• Ensures company equipment is operated in a safe manner and in accordance with Carmacks Equipment maintenance practices.
• Attends daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
• Completes daily safety documentation.

What do we value?

• Minimum 3 years experience working in road construction and operating as a Finish Grader Operator
• Highways Roadbuilding experience is an asset
• Knowledge of construction methods, road construction materials, heavy equipment operation and industry requirements
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract
