What you'll bring
- A minimum of 3+ years' paid professional tax preparation experience, using tax software
- A minimum of 125 tax returns prepared per tax season for the last 3 years
- Experience preparing a variety of federal and provincial tax returns for individuals, including student, pension, self-employed, rental property, investments, and foreign income
- Experience preparing and filing comprehensive customer personal tax returns, including employment, self-employment, rental, investments, T1135, foreign income, and all applicable credits and deductions
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and concepts, exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with Windows and mobile platforms, as well as G-suite applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible availability/schedule
- Proficiency in both English and French (reading, writing, and speaking) is considered an asset
- Experience preparing Quebec tax (TP1) returns is considered an asset
- Experience providing support in a contact center environment is considered an asset
- Provide tax guidance for personal tax returns in a remote, seasonal, and customer-facing role
- Collaborate with customers to prepare or review their tax return, ensuring compliance and accuracy by offering tax guidance and preparation services
- Research and troubleshoot tax questions, communicating directly with customers and providing specific tax advice (written and oral)
- Deliver a Full-Service experience, including preparing, reviewing, and filing customers' returns with the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency), or assisting customers in preparing their own tax returns with tax advice, preparation, and guidance on required documents for the CRA
- Research tax regulations to provide accurate advice on maximizing customers' tax returns
- Create positive customer interactions and experiences through deep empathy, in-depth tax knowledge, and expertise
- Proactively find the right answers for each customer by utilizing government websites, professional resources, and team expertise, and translating complex information into everyday language
- Apply established practices, procedures, and company policies to resolve customer inquiries
