Pediatric clinic in Markham seeks friendly, enthusiastic and energetic Medical Assistant in this customer-service oriented position. We are looking for a ‘people person’ with experience working in a busy medical clinic.
Location: 110 Copper Creek Drive, Unit 200, Markham ON L6B0P9
Job start date: Immediately
Hours: 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
Wages: Starting wage $18/hour with advancement with time in the position
The Medical Assistant will perform the following duties:
● Receive and register patients on the electronic medical record
● Maintain patient flow within the clinic
● Maintain accurate patient records including distributing reports, consultation notes, test results, insurance documents and other documents as received
● Schedule appointments for multiple physicians using various scheduling software
● Coordinate appointments for patients with our clinic, hospitals, other physician offices as needed
● Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries, inquiries from hospitals, laboratories and other medical professionals
● Confirm appointments via phone, email, SMS or other software as needed
● Light tidying of work area, patient reception area and exam rooms as needed.
● Take patient measurements when needed, prepare referrals to send out.
● Prepare vaccinations for administration (this can be taught), as well as maintain inventory of supplies and vaccines, as well as ordering vaccines from Public Health.
The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
● 1+ years experience working as a medical secretary/assistant
● Ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, able to work in a team environment
● Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with email, MS Word, PDFs. Ability to learn new software quickly.
● Experience with Telus PSS is an asset
● Able to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and medical staff in writing and verbally
● Excellent spoken and written English; second language will be considered an asset.
● Comfortable with children of all ages
● Provides a warm and welcoming reception for families and children, on the phone and in person
● Dependable and professional
Other requirements:
● Medical clearance for tuberculosis and police record check including vulnerable sector check will be required before starting the position.
