PURPOSE
The purpose of the Medical Office Receptionist is coordinating the daily administration of physicians, employees, visitors, and patients. This position includes a combination of customer service and administrative duties to tend the patients and facilitate in the efficient running of the office.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet office visitors and managing patient intake
- Answer phone calls and direct phone traffic
- Receive and communicate messages
- Schedule appointments for patients
- Screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms
- Maintain patient health records
- Enter patient demographic information into EMR
- Answer patient questions and provide direction on appointments and lab work
- Provide support and compassion to patients
- Manage incoming maternity referrals and scheduling
- Communicate with appropriate facilities for patient services and records
- Accept and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
- Maintain cleanliness of waiting area
- Tend to a variety of patient follow-up tasks delegated by the physician
- Offer suggestions to assist the clinic in running smooth
ADDITIONAL DUTIES (may include)
- Billing and claim submissions of clinical procedures
- Clinic champion/lead of various duties (IT/telecommunications, fire marshal, form editing)
- Ordering medical and/or office supplies; maintaining supplies budget
- Maintain surgical OR information system (Connect Care)
- Manage incoming gynecology referrals and scheduling
- Instrument sterilization and/or maintenance of reprocessing equipment

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Medical Office Assistant Diploma; or,
- Post-secondary education in a related field; or,
- Minimum of 3-years experience working in a medical clinic environment; preferred experience in obstetrics and/or gynecology fields
- EMR (Accuro experience considered an asset) and Netcare experience
