Burbank Express Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in the success of our business. This key role involves overseeing the daily operations of a 24-7 established transportation business. This involves managing and providing direction to departments such as finance, human resources, dispatch, company drivers, and mechanical shops. At Burbank Express Ltd, our team works to ensure the specialized transportation needs of Manitoba potato producers. Between fields, storage facilities, and plants, we haul potatoes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Burbank Express Ltd takes pride on their exceptional reputation and outstanding service. With extensive industry knowledge, we use specialized equipment to preserve this valuable commodity's quality from grower to processing.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and working closely with the Financial Controller, as the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of our daily operations, including:
- Adhering to and monitoring all regulatory policies and procedures for the safe operation of our fleet
- Overseeing administrative and financial functions to ensure the smooth functioning of the business.
- Facilitating clear communication between dispatch, office, and shop departments
- Leading and coordinating regular weekly meetings to keep all departments informed and up to date on current workflows.
- Scheduling to ensure proper staffing levels and maintaining training programs as required.
- Generating reports for the Vice President of Operations as required
- Overseeing recruiting, onboarding, and training of employees to achieve objectives, including driver's tests and follow-up programs.
- Attending and coordinating marketing activities, such as trade shows and targeted advertising campaigns
- Collaborating with our local scheduling staff at processing plant (Simplot, Portage la Prairie) to ensure proper logistics
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-5 years of management experience with proven success in similar role
- Knowledge in financial operations such as AR/AP, cashflow analysis, annual budgeting.
- Experience in logistics, agriculture or similar industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn other software programs.
- Experience monitoring performance, preparing reports for management and managing through constant changes to schedule and policies.
- Proven ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
