Position Summary:
The Government Reporting Business Analyst will develop and present analytics and develop communications tools, as well as diagnose, make recommendations for change management, and document continuous improvement of the GDEU Government Reporting life cycle. The GDEU life cycle reports student activities to the government and implicates changes and updates made by students, faculty advisors, student records, the Student Information System, BI, and is all framed within the Quebec Government's GDEU reporting requirements. This role will be on the GDEU Government Reporting team and will develop and communicate new tools and processes for facilitating improvements to the Government Reporting process across the various stakeholders and aspects.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Document and communicate timelines and compliance parameters of various aspects of the amendment process and present to relevant stakeholders.
  • Plan, conduct, and implement complex projects. Monitor progress of projects and results.
  • Define, develop, and implement system and process solutions to support Government Reporting needs.
  • Facilitate workgroups, gather, and document stakeholder needs.
  • Identify opportunities and conduct assessments to improve unit and process operations; evaluate existing systems and processes and suggest solutions to satisfy stakeholder needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed information systems and processes. Prepare process maps and business requirements.
  • Develop analytic tools, conduct analysis, summarize findings, make process or policy recommendations.
  • Conduct benchmarking analysis against other units and institutions.
  • Develop project-related deliverables (i.e., business plans, project charters, change requests, executive presentations, etc.).
  • Develop and implement testing protocols as appropriate. Revise and update documentation
  • Identify, develop, and deliver training for users related to implemented solutions.
  • Liaise with both external and university partners to ensure alignment with established standards and protocols.
  • Apply information systems, business analysis, and change management knowledge to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and trends in the field of project management, information technology, business analysis, and change management.
  • Participate in cross-training and other project-related activities.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Experience managing multiple, small to large, cross-functional projects. Experience leading the development of projects based on business and IT strategies. Experience in areas such as process design, re-engineering, organizational transformation, business relationship management, and Lean. Experience with Student Records and Government Reporting. Experience with communications. Understanding of project management and methodology. Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills. Strong customer-service focus and ability to give direction and assistance to internal clients and stakeholders. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in both English and French, spoken and written. Strong ability to work in a PC environment with advanced technical skills. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 1-4
