Overview:
Dover House Senior Care home is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Health Care Aids during the afternoon shift. We are a purpose build care home that provides a homelike environment to 24 seniors. As a Health Care Aide, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals in their homes, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Duties:
- Provide personal care services to clients (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other duties as indicated
- follow individualized care plans
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and light snacks when needed
- Monitor in and output, and charting responsible
- Make self availble to be part in education sessions when offered
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment, in addition to light laundry when required
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as toileting and hygiene
- Regular reporting and communicating with team of healthcare professionals, including, but not limited to HCAs, LPNs, RNs
- Respect seniors' belongings and care home property
- Utilize upmost safety following indicated safety measures when working with lifts, ensuring two people are present during the transfer
- Preform all duties in accordance with Dover House's policies and procedures
Skills:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Experience or background in nursing or healthcare is preferred
- Familiarity with nursing home or assisted living environments is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as required
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and practices
- Understanding of senior care needs, including dementia care, cardiovascular, and palliative care
- Strong caregiving skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently, along with a team
