Job Title:HR Business Partner
Status: Full Time, permanent
Location: Delta, BC – Head Office
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 based on experience
Job Overview:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for guiding and ensuring positive employee and labour relations, coaching managers on effective leadership behaviours and actions, and advising management on organizational structure, hiring, and terminations. The HRBP will be a point of contact for managers on using the HRIS effectively, including reporting and metrics, and will work with the HR team on various projects and initiatives regarding onboarding, employee engagement, recognition, leave management, performance management, and compensation.
Alpine operates from BC to the Maritimes. This role may support managers and employees throughout Alpine, excluding Ontario and Quebec.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts regular meetings with Operations and other departments in order to provide support and guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, and labour relations.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves simple employee relations issues, and escalates complex employee relations issues to the senior HR team members for consultation and resolution. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Establishes positive relationships with union representatives and manages labour relations issues effectively.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for managers in order to develop effective leadership skills
  • Oversees the management of Alpine Academy, our in-house leadership development program, and liaises with facilitators and vendors to ensure consistent delivery of programs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • 2-5 years in a similar capacity.
  • Strong emotional intelligence.
  • Strong learning agility, with ability to learn quickly.
  • Resourceful, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and establish positive relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Experience or proficiency in HRIS, especially Dayforce.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • CPHR an asset but not required.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset but not required.
  • Reliable transportation to various sites required.
Working Conditions:
This is not a remote/work-from-home role. The nature of this HRBP role means that you will need to work on-site at Head Office or at various locations throughout BC and the rest of Alpine to conduct investigations, provide coaching, and facilitate learning. Approximately one day/week will be at a Lower Mainland location other than Head Office; travel to Vancouver Island and/or the Okanagan may be required quarterly or as needed. This position generally works Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm Pacific time but may infrequently require some additional hours on evenings and weekends as needed.
