Nenan Dane zaa Deh Zona Family Services Society (Nenan) is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Indingeouns Child and Youth Mental Health Navigator. As an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Navigator will provide culturally appropriate services and information which enhance the relationships and wellness of children and families who are experiencing significant challenges, in the Treaty 8 lands of Northeastern British Columbia.
This ICYMH Navigator role is located in Fort Nelson. The position is under the direct supervision of the ICYMH Clinician. Travel between Fort St. John and Fort Nelson may be required. Evening and weekend work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Connects and collaborates with appropriate referral sources
- Conduct intakes
- Conduct Mental Health assessments and develop assessment reports
- Collaborate with Clinician to Develop and execute treatment plans
- Maintain appropriate records
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Awareness of Indigenous culture and issues affecting Indigenous families and communities
- Knowledge and familiarity with northern and rural communities
- Develop and maintain working knowledge and relationships with natural partners and supports in the communities
- Comfortable with conducting both Psycho-educational and treatment focused group sessions to various ages
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or comparable degree with strong clinical skills
- Two years of related experience with responsibility for providing Mental Health services to children and Youth
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- A valid BC class 5 driver’s license and criminal record check are mandatory
