Junior Accountant – Hotel Division

Description:
We are looking for a Junior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our Hotel Accounting Team, working with our Sutton Place, Sandman and Sandman Signature brands. This position will report to the Assistant Controller, Hotel Division.
Responsibilities

• Routinely perform periodic bank account reconciliations
• Assisting with period-end account reconciliations (Balance Sheet Accounts)
• Posting period-end entries and prepare profit and loss statements
• Preparing and submitting government tax remittances
• Managing P&L inquiries and any required adjustments
• Support annual financial statement audit process
• Promote standardization and process improvements through automation
• Build great working relationships with the business to promote synergies
• Perform other accounting duties as required

Role Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years experience, enrolled in the CPA program preferred
• Strong foundational knowledge in basic accounting principles including thorough understanding of prepaids and accruals
• Hospitality industry experience an asset
• Ability to communicate well both written and orally
• Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within established deadlines and time constraints
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to have fun and be a great team player
• Strong knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Excel
• Previous work experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations considered an asset
