JUNIOR SUMMER CAMP LEADERFile Number: SV24-19

Number of Positions: Four (4)
Hourly Rate: $17.07 per hour
Hours of Work: 41 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Department: Community Services
Employee Group: Administrative Group
Work Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre
Approximate Contract Length: June 21, 2024 – August 30, 2024
Closing Date: February 29, 2024, at 4:30 PM
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
As a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will assist the Senior Camp Leader to provide safe supervision, organize and implement games and activities for various camps for children, allowing the participants to express themselves and socialize in a creative, fun-filled atmosphere.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of the participants and following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
  • Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to the Camp Coordinator.
  • Assist with the daily cleanliness of the facility.
  • Assist with the completion of the required administrative forms (ie. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
  • Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (including swimming).
  • Act as Senior Leader in the event that the Senior Leader is absent.
  • Supervise participants during the extended hour service, when scheduled.
  • Attend all Summer Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School enrollment is required. College or University student, in a child related field of study is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with children leading various games and activities required.
  • Hold a valid Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certification.
  • Hold the High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Certified Water Safety Instructor is an asset.
