Qualifications
- Ideal candidate is pursuing Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Worker, Developmental Support Worker, Elementary education (teacher’s college), or other similar program
- Valid Standard First Aid and level "C" CPR
- Negative Vulnerable Sector Check
Expectations
- The Summer Student is required to work 35-40 hours per week

- Be available June 24, 2024 – Aug 30, 2024 (consideration for selected candidate to begin casual hours as early as April 22, 2024)
- Be confident in planning and facilitating a variety of activities and programs (indoor and outdoor) to always keep children aged JK – Grade 2 engaged and safe
- Must be able to work as a team and independently
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm to create a positive camp experience for all participants
Job Description and Responsibilities
The Summer Student position is primarily responsible for our Summer Camp program and provides nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting. The Summer Student is under the direct supervision of the Daycare Director and acts in accordance with the program statement of the centre and the philosophy and policies of Evergreen Heights Christian Fellowship. The Summer Student must be in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and organize daily activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and educational programs
- Supervise and monitor campers to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
- Provide guidance and support to campers, promoting positive behavior and social interaction
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a fun and engaging camp experience
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and any necessary documentation
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding camper progress, behavior, and any concerns
- Recognize and respond to the needs of each child using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques
- Share responsibility for maintaining play environments and storage areas
- Complete additional tasks such as laundry, cleaning, other duties as assigned, and staff coverage as required
