We are seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant. The individual should be familiar with the preparation of equipment and chemicals for high school laboratory work in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The candidate will also need excellent interpersonal skills as they will work closely with all teachers in the Science Department.

As we are opening a new Senior School building later this year, the Lab Assistant will have the opportunity to work 20-25 hours per week when classes move into the new building. Hours ahead of this move will be approximately 10-15 hours per week.
Responsibilities will include:
- Primarily working with Chemistry, Physics and Biology will work with teachers in respective areas and obtain equipment identified and ensure that it is ready for classroom instruction.
- Will visit labs during class to ensure that equipment is working properly.
- Responsible for returning equipment to storage areas after class.
- Cleaning of glassware used by students.
- Ongoing repair and maintenance of physics equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Ability to multi-task and strong problem-solving skills.
Qualifications will include:
- Completion of post-secondary studies in Science, or working towards completion.
- Experience working in a research laboratory environment either in an academic setting or institutional type environment.
- Familiarity with an independent school setting.
- Experience as a lab technician is considered an asset.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- The ability and desire to work within a collaborative culture.
