What is the opportunity?

Expert technical and Process Analyst supporting Finance & Audit IT Operations transformation, stability and resiliency. You will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBC by playing a crucial role in our site reliability transformation initiative.

Working closely with our engineering and operations teams to ensure top-notch performance, scalability, and reliability across our systems. Enabling the rollout of site reliability engineering practices through the definition of service level indicators and objectives with stakeholders, and the review and refactoring of operational processes for automation.

Partnering across IT and with assigned business line(s) to assess, research, and analyze business, technical and system needs in order to resolve business and operational systems issues by recommending and owning technology solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs.

You'll have deep knowledge and experience working in an application development or technology operations organization and a natural imperative to share what you've learned. You should be a strong communicator.  Comfortable organizing and delivering technical presentations and hands-on learning labs as you'll be a leading voice in our communities-of-practice.

What will you do?

Technical Analysis, Design and Consulting

  • Facilitates Requirement gathering with the business and IT and translates the business requirements into technical specifications.

  • Understands end-to-end process and works with stakeholders to define KPIs, SLIS, and SLOs, designing appropriate dashboards and notification to facilitate effective service management.

  • Manages detailed design phases. Identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues and ensuring solution meets sponsor needs.

  • Provide quality and timely support to our business partners and stakeholders through data analysis, impact analysis, and/or building ad hoc report.

  • Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.

  • Assesses business and IT process, evaluates benefits and establishes performance baselines, re-engineers process for commoditized automation (reuse).

  • Provides input and co-ordinates with technical team members in creating new and modifying existing database structures using different types of databases and recommending appropriate DB based on required functionality across multiple systems.

  • Provides input and co-ordinates with stakeholders and technical team members in designing and creating new and modifying existing operations user interfaces.

System Implementation

  • Provides or participates in technical liaison between business the project or support team for project installations.

  • Partners with development and support team in release activities and Post Implementation Validation activities for the application(s) supported.

Testing & Documentation

  • Partners with Quality Engineering team and manage User Acceptance testing and verification ensuring all tasks are performed for all interfaces.

  • Ensures adequate technical documentation and training.

Planning, Implementation & Support

  • Manages all aspects of implementation planning & coordination.

  • Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implement and stabilize phases of the project.

Relationships & Communication

  • Acts as primary IT liaison with multiple interfacing applications, 3rd party vendors, IT Executive and/or Project Managers.

  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.

  • Facilitates complex group meetings (including business partners) for technical design, decision making, problem solving, implementation and strategic planning.

  • Prepares and delivers presentations to business and technology partners, senior management and executives, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.

  • Contributes to the realization of effective practices through communities-of-practice.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Significant experience in IS/IT performing business/systems & data analysis, and working with product owner, business analysts and developers.

  • Expertise in creating presentation, flow charts, business process documents with appropriate level of details and abstractions.

  • Experience understanding business requirements and translating requirements into technical solutions.

  • Experience with building / running SQL query at an advanced level to perform data analysis, impact analysis, and/or producing ad hoc report.

  • Experience with at least one programming language (Java/Python preferred).

  • Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process modelling and re-engineering experience.

  • Good understanding of data models and large data analysis.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience defining OKRs, KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.

  • Experience with AIOps, or Intelligent Ops, and/or GenAI and ML for Operations.

  • Experience in an IT/IS operations (ITIL) and SRE or DevOps or Platform Engineering environment.

  • Experience with automation for Operations: monitoring, routing & escalation, self-healing, runbook automation.

  • Experience working in Agile development setting & familiarity with Jira.

  • Experience working in an enterprise environment and Service Oriented / Data Pipeline Architecture with multiple integration with upstream & downstream systems.

  • Experience with financial industry and / or customer data / client information.
