A License & Bylaw Enforcement Officer investigates complaints of bylaw infractions and
enforces municipal bylaws and regulations with professionalism and impartiality .

Duties - Union
- Records, responds, investigates and resolves bylaw -related enquiries and complaints from the general public, businesses, other government agencies and
- Issues municipal tickets related to a variety of bylaw violations (i.e. business license violations, parking violations, illegal suites and signs , etc).
- Interviews complainants, alleged offenders and other persons to determine the facts of alleged infractions/incidents; explains bylaws/regulations and, in appropriate circumstances, attempts to obtain voluntary compliance.
- Gathers and documents evidence according to established rules of evidence and investigative techniques; initiates/prepares prosecution actions, as authorized by the Supervisor. Presents evidence in court when called upon to do so.
- Prepares and writes reports, letters, court documents and other correspondence; keeps accurate patrol logs and maintains various service records and files, utilizing various computerized databases.
- Patrols City streets and parks to identify, pre-empt and resolve bylaw problems; reports property damage or hazardous situations (i.e. abandoned vehicles, damaged or missing traffic signs, graffiti, etc.)
- Attends RCMP Detachment Watch briefings to listen to criminal activity information (e.g. stolen vehicles, etc). Reports to the RCMP suspicious vehicles or activities observed during patrols (i.e. dangerous driving; potential grow-ops, etc) . Works closely with Building Inspectors and other City staff.
- Performs traffic control during traffic accidents, emergency incidents, or special events and assignments.

- Completion of recognized Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills Certificate (i.e.
