Job description
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Respond to bylaw complaints from local citizens, elected officials, and businesses.
· Records, investigates, inspects, processes, and resolves alleged bylaw violations and complaints.
· Provides public education and awareness to ensure the protection of residents, property, and employees.
· Enforces and issues warning tickets, violation tickets and Order to Comply notifications for noncompliance with municipal bylaws, including vehicle parking regulations.
· Uses specialized equipment related to specific bylaws (cameras, noise level instruments, etc.)
· Enters and maintains data and reports in bylaw database.
· Completes monthly statistical reports as required.
· Provides detailed information for the Screening Officer and other management supervisors in preparation for bylaw adjudication or court.
· Interprets and explains bylaws, policies, and regulations to the public and provides suggestions and guidance.
· Makes recommendations based on policy, good judgment, and legal principles.
· Answers inquiries from other departments on bylaw matters.
Other Information
· This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
· Office and outside work dealing with the public.
· Will require some night shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A relevant diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- By-Law Compliance, Enforcement, and Investigative Skills Level 1 or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Rules of Evidence.
- The ability to pass a Police Information Check (PIC).
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license with a safe driving record.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Directly related municipal experience is an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $28.00-$31.00 per hour
