Logistics Planner/Scheduler

Panolam Surface Systems has an opportunity for a Logistics Planner/Scheduler professional to work in our Huntsville, Ontario plant. His/her main objective is to develop and execute tactical production and scheduling plans based on balancing the over all level of manufacturing output to best satisfy the current planned level of sales as established in the sales plan, or forecast, while meeting general business objectives of profitability, productivity, and competitive customer lead times. To establish production levels that will achieve management's objective of satisfying customer demand by striving to maintain inventory levels, order backlogs, on time deliveries and critical resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishing, measuring, monitoring, and reporting to management the limits or levels of capacity to execute all current manufacturing schedules.
• Monitoring and reporting all available to promise capacity by machine and date.
• The creation and maintenance of planned order releases to production in an efficient time phased manner to facilitate the on-time delivery of raw materials to satisfy customer demand. Delivery of hardcopy schedules to all appropriate workstations. Must schedule for Finished Goods orders as well as treated paper and raw particleboard shipments.
• Using bills of material data, inventory data, production schedules to calculate, plan and order the materials required to satisfy current and future demand for end item products.
• Forecasting of end item SKUs based on the aggregate volumes expressed in the sales and operations plan.
• Reporting projected completion of all orders due in the specified time period indicating order completion estimates and reasons for foreseeable delays.
• Setting and maintaining the desired levels of raw materials, WIP and finished goods including order quantities and planned stock levels.
• Encourage Production Supervisors to address technical issues preventing timely completion of items. Expedite remakes if necessary.
• Coordinate sales of factory grade to Panolam employees.
• Other duties as requested.

PRE-REQUISITIES:

• Minimum Grade 12.
• Applicants must exhibit proficiency in the use of Excel spreadsheets. A general knowledge of Windows and excellent computer skills are necessary.
• Shop floor flow and process knowledge are essential. Experience in production planning, capacity control, inventory management functions and forecasting techniques and considered an asset as well as knowledge of the functions of ERP and MRP planning systems.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision and exhibit a high level of responsibility for your work and decisions. Must be accessible to be on call and receive calls from the plant at all hours. Some overtime required at month end and physical inventory counts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must exhibit a high level of communications skills both written and verbal.
• Must have the ability to work with the Logistics teams and with all departments.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work and communicate priorities and issues to others.
• Must be able to analyze problems and situations and provide viable solutions.
• Ability to say “No” to custom requests when appropriate, especially when involved with overfilling our production capacity and to graciously accept an overruling of this decision by Senior Management.
