What will I be doing?
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the maintenance department runs smoothly and is a key member of the management team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be carrying out your duties and leading by example in the way you conduct yourself and your work. You will ensure that tasks are done safely and the physical plant operations of the hotel runs smooth. Maintenance schedules will be followed, problems will be anticipated and addressed.
Responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to:
- Supervise, train, coach and evaluate up to three staff
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all departments
- Perform chemical tests for the hot tubs.
- Perform minor fixes and repairs
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.
- Conduct maintenance tasks and schedule
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation).
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm).
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
- Ensure all chemical supplies for the hot tubs are kept stocked up and orders submitted to the Hotel Manager when required.
- Update room maintenance and renovation log books.
- Maintain all WHMIS MSDS binders for all departments, when there is a change in product..
- Perform cleaning activities as required indoors or outdoors
- Report to Hotel Manager any issues that need additional outside assistance.
- Ensure that all Occupational Health & Safety policies and training are followed.
- Be the Emergency Team Captain and OHS Team Leader.
- Lead OHS Committee in quarterly Hazard Assessments, reports and follow up.
- Chair quarterly OHS Committee meetings and maintain minutes.
What are the qualifications, abilities and attitudes we are looking for?
- · At least one year of commercial building maintenance experience
- · Customer oriented and friendly
- · Strong English communication skills with emphasis on problem-solving.
- · A team player with leadership skills.
- · Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- · Willing and able to learn new skills and procedures
- · A valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
- · Boiler experience preferred.
- Experience doing minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical work is an asset
- · Have or able to complete a valid pool course
- · Have or able to complete OHS training.
- · Have or able to complete WHMIS certificate.
- · Must have a valid work permit for Canada to be considered.
- · A criminal Record Check will be required.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: $21.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
