One of our food processing clients in Essex, ON is looking for a Maintenance Supervisorfor their facility.
Shift - 3 shift rotation (8 hour shifts)
Responsibilities:
Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work
Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement
Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness
Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions
Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians
Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department
Ensure that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures
Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems
Maintain and repair maintenance shop equipment
Establish and maintain a maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment
Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems
Ensure that maintenance personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner
Assist with hiring of maintenance personnel
Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
Ensure city, province, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times
Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department; review safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians
Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of plant performance
Develop and implement structured preventative and predictive maintenance programs
Prepare budget for each fiscal year and recommend any equipment upgrades/needs
Hold monthly safety crew and maintenance team meetings
Perform other tasks or jobs as needed or required
Requirements:
Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in a Technical discipline and/or skilled trades certification/license 442a/309a is preferred.
Proven leadership experience at a manager or supervisory level in maintenance or engineering is a prerequisite
Strong knowledge of Preventative Maintenance, CMMS, Mechanical/Electrical systems and quality control systems within a manufacturing environment
Strong communication and organization skills with ability to lead and develop a team of skilled trades staff
At least 2 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager
Practical maintenance experience related to the manufacture of folding corrugated containers, paper converting, die cutting and press processes/operations.
