Position Overview:
The Manager, Insurance Claims reports to the Director, Claims Counsel in RBI’s Legal Department in Miami, FL and supervises a Claims Team with responsibilities that include claims functions and insurance policy management. The successful candidate possesses practical experience and knowledge in the area of Insurance Claims processing and handling, technical expertise in insurance, strong analytical and communication skills and is customer- and team-oriented.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supports Claims Counsel and works closely with Claims Team, Third Party Administrators, external legal counsel, and insurance brokers to oversee claim processing, handling, and administration
- Reports on claims trends and assists with sourcing materials from internal partners for claim discovery requests
- Provides oversight for the Certificate of Insurance process, working with insurance brokers and external consultants to ensure compliance
- Collects underwriting data from various internal partners for insurance policy renewals and responds to deliverables from Broker (Property & Casualty, Executive risk lines)
- Assists both Claims Counsel and Treasury department with the insurance program renewal process by analyzing insurance program structures, historical claims data, and underwriting data to recommend structural and coverage changes based on industry best practices and exposures of the company
- Manages payment of premiums and service fees to vendors
- Tracks and reports on spend against budget, conducting analysis as required to evaluate performance
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external parties on general insurance inquiries (i.e. coverage and risk management issues)
- Reviews vendor/client contracts and assists with the recommendation of appropriate types and levels of insurance coverage
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in an insurance related position is preferred (US & Canadian experience a plus)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with process improvement is a plus
- Must be flexible, organized and customer-focused to foster strong working relationships with internal and external partners
- Understanding of contracts (be able to find and translate the insurance and indemnification sections) is a plus
- Familiarity with auto coverage, property, general liability, and workers compensation coverage is preferred
