Location and Reporting Structure
Responsibilities
- Manage the operations of the maintenance team across various locations, such as MLA, Goose, and the ice road forward camp. This includes overseeing Maintenance Leads, Automotive Service Technicians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, and Welders to guarantee the secure and effective execution of both planned and unplanned repairs for site equipment;
- Supervise diverse work groups, encompassing construction, operations, winter ice road, exploration, and power generation;
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment, including crushers, conveyors, excavators, transport trucks / trailers, winter ice road construction equipment, construction cranes, manlifts, zoomboom, AWP, and drills to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency;
- Ensure accountability for maintaining equipment records, analyzing equipment performance, and reporting on the effectiveness of the maintenance service that meets regulatory requirements;
- Prioritize work order requests with the Superintendent, Maintenance to organize jobs and execute according to the level of urgency and weekly schedule. Interface regularly with site teams to schedule maintenance activities;
- Review work orders and KPI’s to decide on corrective measures to be taken and communicate effectively to the project teams and managers. Requisition materials and supplies as necessary;
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, providing insights for cost-effective allocation of resources;
- Manage forecasting and planning activities, including sealift resupply, long-term fleet planning, short-term maintenance planning to ensure efficient and strategic operational processes;
- Drive the smooth adoption and effective use of SAP within B2Gold's systems and processes for enhanced integration; and
- Ensure that safety incidents are thoroughly investigated to promote proper procedures and protocol.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Ten (10) years’ experience in the heavy industry in mobile maintenance, mine maintenance, planning, and execution (preferably in the mining industry) with five (5) years in supervisory capacity required;
- Interprovincial Red Seal trade qualification required;
- Experience with mobile fleets consisting of (but not limited to) CAT and Sandvik equipment (shovels, haul trucks, drills, dozers, loaders, light and heavy vehicles, and other support equipment); and
- Prior experience working with indigenous groups in a professional capacity and working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources.
