What you’ll do
It’s safe to say, there’s no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:

  • This position leads the Financial Planning & Analysis function in establishing strategic short and long-term Financial Planning. The Manager of is accountable for the analysis of TJX Canada's business operations for the purposes of measuring and forecasting future business performance. This position leads a Manager and team of Financial Analysts, and leverages strong business partnerships to drive the financial processes for projection, planning, and budgeting.
  • Leads data analytics, financial modeling, and presentation Of Financial information to support key business initiatives and decision support.
  • Identifies process opportunities to enhance automation and efficiencies within the FP&A team.
  • Lead financial presentations to stakeholders, to provide periodic financial updates.
  • Drives and owns the development, execution, and monitoring of short to mid-term (1-3 years) functional strategy and the operational direction of the FP&A Department.
  • Leads the development and preparation of the monthly, annual, and long-range forecasting, budgeting processes and financial plans (including Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Capital Expenditures, and P&L).
  • Present budgets, forecasts, and value-added analysis to the Executive & Senior Leadership team on a regular basis, communicating key trends, observations, and business impacts; advises the business during the organization's strategic planning process and maintains an understanding of industry trends, key business cost drivers, and accounting policies.
  • Support the preparation of board of director materials and presentations to represent TJX Canada.
  • Leads the team in evaluating actual versus planned outcomes of key TJX Canada strategic decisions, and ensure the required ROI is delivered.
  • Leads the preparation Of Financial analysis, standard and ad-hoc financial reports in the areas of project control, capital budgeting, payroll, expense planning, and business plan monitoring for all levels of management; implement procedures around budget shortfalls and/or changes in department/project scope and creates notification mechanisms for executive leadership to ensure proper communication.
  • Works closely with the Accounting team to support the monthly close process; ensures the smooth flow of information between FP&A department and Accounting for accrual purposes, ensuring spending is matching plans, etc.
  • Interview, coach, and develop Associates; builds their skills and confidence to successfully demonstrate the Leadership Competencies and Cultural Factors (LCCF’s).
  • Evaluates performance and drives development by providing regular feedback to Associates with the goal of developing next-level (promotable) talent within the organization.

What you’ll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:

  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree in a related discipline (i.e. Business/Commerce, Finance & Accounting); a Masters degree or MBA is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional finance experience with a focus in the development and management of budgets.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a financial reporting leadership capacity.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to act as a collaborative partner with senior management; capable of positively influencing others to act in the best interest of the organization.
  • Strong consulting skills. Ability to procure and analyze a wide range of quantitative and qualitative information for use in developing strategies, plans, policies, and solutions that meet departmental and organizational needs; demonstrated ability to be creative, resourceful, and pragmatic with a solution-focused attitude.
  • Solid organizational development skills including change management, time management; detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize, manage team workloads, and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, communicate, and interpret information with a high degree of accuracy; bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and collaborative skills including negotiation, interviewing, information gathering, and active listening skills; capability to develop highly effective working relationships by building credibility and rapport with internal and external networks.
  • Excellent people management skills including coaching, providing feedback, advice and/or guidance to Associates for problem resolution, evaluating performance, participating in the recruitment and orientation of new hires.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately manage highly sensitive information.
  • Strong computer and database management skills including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel); experience working with Power Bi or related data visualization software is considered an asset.
