Key Responsibilities:
IndustrialEngineering (improving and providing data on existing business processes and systems)
- Analyse current production and operational processes and determine creative courses of action to promote safety, quality, and efficiency
- Optimize the AI X-Ray system optical sorter, eddy current, induction sorting, shredder / screens to ensure desired quality / throughput goals
- Lead and standardize green lines / time-value analysis to ensure consistency on operational processing costs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through analysis of process parameters like downtime, efficiency, and commodity quality using different lean tools like Gemba, Spaghetti Diagram, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
- Lead or participate in the discovery, planning and execution of approved major and continuous initiatives and ensure projects are delivered within scope, time and budget objectives
- Work with Operations and Commodities on research and design, new product discovery and bring those ventures to market.
- Support development and standardization of manufacturing processes including creation/updates to SOPs, supporting new process roll outs and training of the personnel.
- Support plant equipment improvements through installation, commissioning, and process trial work
- Ensure that equipment meets performance specifications
- Provide hands on support on process troubleshooting and process improvement while maintaining quality and product standards
- Determine the best options for process improvement tactics and execute those efficiencies;
- Provide business leadership and expertise to identify, prioritize, plan and execute projects, processes and system improvement initiatives
ProjectEngineering (implementing and changing processes in the business)
- Make recommendations to new equipment installation, modifications, and improvements to support business and industry changes / needs
- Prepares a plan to implement the improvements and monitor the new process to ensure that it is working as intended;
- Work with management to allocate business resources across competing initiatives and manage resources effectively; Provide direction, coaching and support to teams and subject matter experts throughout projects
- Acts as a consultant and business resource to the Operation and Commodities Team
- Completion of a university degree in Engineering with courses in economics, analytics, business, operations and/or project management or equivalent experience
- Post-secondary degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge or completion of Six-Sigma or comparable principles is a strong asset
- 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
