NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring the product standards by inspecting and testing during the manufacturing process. Responsibilities also includes conducting quality checks, basic equipment maintenance, engage in troubleshooting throughout the production process. Additionally, this role is also involved in disassembling and disposing of scrap materials, filling out reports and escalating results to appropriate team members.
This person will be responsible for:
- Maintain cleanliness at quality lab in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quality, Right Container
- Perform cross-section and weld strength (tensile) tests.
- Perform 3-Dimensional Measurement with CMM.
- Ensure adherence to company regulations and quality control procedures.
- Check product and production process for desired quality specification.
- Maintain proper record of inspection details, defects and corrective actions.
- Engage in troubleshooting and report issues as required.
- Work closely with production team to address and rectify quality issues, providing feedback to improve the process.
- Identify and implement process improvement.
- Follow NextStar existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. Line Stop, waiting time, etc.) which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment
Qualifications:
- 3 years of Quality inspection experience in a fast paced environment
- Graduate of College or University is preferred
- Passion to accelerate career with educational program via NextStar Energy
- Experience with measuring devices such as calipers, gauges and other measuring instruments
- Experience with Tensile testing machine and CMM is preferred
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail orientated
- The willingness and ability to work flexible hours occasionally to support team
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support entire production team
- Ability to work day and night shifts on a rotating schedule
- Good capability to use MS-office
- Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections
- Problem solving and analytical skills
