POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of full cycle in house payrolls and Benefits, including preparing government remittances, reconciling Payroll and benefit accounts, processing earnings and deductions, and year end processing.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Responsible for the weekly processing of full cycle bi-weekly/weekly payrolls, following the ICFR process and in accordance with current payroll taxing legislation, labor regulations and union agreements.
- Work closely with HR designates in assigned locations to ensure information is entered accurately and received by predetermined cut offs.
- Responsible for validating information entered for new hires, positions/rate changes, and terminations.
- Enter, update, and verify payroll transaction entries.
- Working as part of a larger team, acts as backup and support for payroll processing for other payroll team members when required.
- Ensure all court ordered maintenance and garnishments are entered, processed, and remitted accurately.
- Process deductions/reimbursements for benefit programs.
- Responsible for all payroll deductions remittances.
- Reconcile and submit all government remittances.
- Provide support for completion of quarterly and/or year-end reporting, T4/W2 processing.
- Process and submit employee ROE’s (CDN).
- Provide data to payroll tax team when required to support withholding filings.
- Reconcile and prepare monthly benefit billings for payment (CDN).
- Prepare regular payroll reporting and ad hoc payroll reports as required.
- Deal with general inquiries, questions, and concerns from employees regarding Payroll and Benefits.
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent Human Resources experience.
- Certificate in Payroll Management, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) is an asset.
- 1-3 years of payroll processing experience preferred.
- Experience in US payroll processing with multistate jurisdictions is an asset but not required.
- Experience with in-house payroll processing is an asset.
- Knowledge of Highline -Personality Payroll Program would be an asset.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
