Job Description: As a member of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Outreach Nurse is an integral member of an intersectoral, multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include screening, assessment, crisis intervention, counselling, goal planning, consultation, community outreach and follow-up, preparation of reports, data collection, client and family and public education
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Current CPR Certification
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Experience
Requires a minimum of three years' recognized experience in a community or acute mental health setting working with clients presenting with acute and/or chronic mental illness
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of professionals, and members of the public
Ability to initiate and exercise critical thinking and decision-making
Ability to work independently
Advanced knowledge of concurrent medical conditions typically associated with mental health and addiction cohorts
Advanced knowledge of drugs of abuse and their effects both during use and during acute and post acute withdrawal
Advanced knowledge of mental illness and concurrent disorders
Demonstrated ability to work with complex clients
Demonstrated empathy working with marginalized populations
Demonstrated empathy, trust and respect in all aspects of the job
Effective oral and written communication skills
