POSITION: Operating Room Attendant
STATUS: Regular Part Time

SALARY: $26.64 - $27.88
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Surgical Suite consists of four (4) Operating Rooms with one endoscopy suite, performing a wide variety of General, Vascular, Orthopedic, Urology, Bladder, ENT, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN and Maxillofacial surgical procedures.
The OR Attendant is an integral member of the OR Team who performs daily functional activities. These activities may include cleaning patient areas, enhancing Operating Room turnovers, assisting with the set up for surgical procedures, cleaning instruments, sending specimens to the lab, obtaining blood products, and transporting patients. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in and performing routine/repetitive patient activities.
HOURS:
Availability must meet the requirements of the Collective Agreement. This position must be available to work days, afternoons and the occasional night shift, including all shifts on weekends and/or statutory holidays. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the Hospital.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required;
- Possess an OR Attendant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution required
- Current Basic Life Support Certification required
- Preference will be given to those with two (2) years’ recent experience in a perioperative care setting
- Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and efficiently in a very fast-paced environment with many interruptions and changing demands.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, public and staff.
- Computer skills and knowledge of ORMED is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique a definite asset.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis as per the STEGH Attendance at Work Program.
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties of the position including lifting up to 55lbs.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Acceptable performance record that is reflective of STEGH’s mission, vision, values and Code of Conduct.
Successful candidates must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
