The Role
The Operations Analyst position is part of Toronto Hydro's New Graduate development program and gives engingeering New Grads the opportunity to rotate through departments and work centers over a 3 to 4 year period. 
The program is designed to offer New Grads opportunities to develop the necessary skills to become high performing professionals and maximize their exposure to the different facets of the electric utility industry.  Operations Analysts may develop skills within areas that include:
 
-Capacity Planning and Grid Innovation
-Capital Projects
-Design and Construction
-Enterprise Program Management Group
-Grid Maintenence, Event Management, Operations Systems and Analytics
-Integrated Planning and Modernization
-Standards and Procurement
-Stations and Distribution Automation
-System Planning
 
As part of the program, Analysts will have the opportunity to attend development classes led by senior engineers and other leaders in the industry.
Toronto Hydro has implemented a mandatory vaccination requirement for all its employees. Power delivery
Toronto Hydro plays an important role in Ontario’s electricity system. We’re responsible for delivering electricity to our almost 800,000 customers in Canada’s largest city. In this role, we distribute approximately 18% of the electricity consumed in the province.
Sustainability and Safety
We’re focused on sustainability – both in our own operations and by giving our customers the tools and tips they need to reduce their electricity usage and have been recognized for our leadership in health and safety by Electricity Canada.

We’re involved in several energy storage projects, which are examples of the flexible, integrated electricity grid we need to continue to build in the future, and have recently turned our attention to ensuring there is the infrastructure to support electric vehicles in the city. How

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Connects with stakeholders to identify, capture and analyze business requirements
-Analyzes large data sets and multiple variables and presents recommendations for action through the preparation of technical or business reports and studies, process maps, graphs, charts or tables
-Assists in the coordination, delivery and execution of projects
-Maintains and further develops databases or decision support tools and systems
-Suggests and implements process and procedure enhancements to support the overall efficiency of the department
-Assists in defining project scope, drafting business cases, conducting feasibility studies and completing cost benefit analysis
-Provides support to management and technology systems including enterprise systems (i.e., SAP), data management and reporting
-Stays current with industry developments and practices
-Works in accordance with safety performance standards and promotes a safety culture
 
REQUIREMENTS:
-2023 or 2024 graduate of a university degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
-Knowledge of and experience in utility operations is an asset
-Proficient in data management and capable of extracting, querying, and analyzing large data sets; intermediate knowledge of programming languages
-(e.g., R, Python, C/C++, VBA) to support data analytics is an asset
-Knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx and/or SAP an asset
-Experience with, machine learning and neural network algorithms in practical applications an asset
-Fully proficient with Microsoft Office applications including advanced working knowledge in MS Excel, Project, Access and Word Awareness of project management processes, principles and methodologies
-Business and strategic thinking acumen
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.  Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
