Outside Plant Manager - Telecom

Nu Build Contracting Inc. is a full turnkey fiber, copper and network infrastructure contractor for Major communication and utility companies. Nu Build Contracting focuses on projects in the GTA, Simcoe, Southwestern Ontario and Durham involving directional drilling, trenching, aerial work, fiber splicing, internal piping, MDU wiring, hydro vac excavation, cabling maintenance and construction and replacement of underground wiring.

Nu Build Contracting has an opportunity available in Vaughan, ON for an ambitious individual to take on the role of Outside Plant Manager. You will be directly responsible for planning, organizing, and directing project related activities as they relate to the business.

As an Outside Plant Manager at Nu Build Contracting, you will:

• Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget

• Work, collaborate and coordinate schedules with FTTH Manager, Construction Manager, Project Managers, Fiber Manager.

• Create trackers and coordinate work for Fiber Splicing and Fiber Jetting

• Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules.

• Align construction crews and supervisors with adequate daily work instructions to direct reports.

• Coordinate manpower movement.

• Ensure all internal processes and/or client business processes are communicated and followed by the appropriate level of supervision.

• Ensure employees are following all processes and procedures set forth by the construction and planning teams to ensure all deficiencies are remediated.

• Work with the Project Managers to review and prepare needs assessments of equipment and materials and requisition required items.

• Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine construction plans. Identify and rectify any issues or questions pertaining to the documents.

• Evaluate/solve constructability and planning issues.

• Ensure the safety program is followed on site.

• Ensure personnel are working according to the main project schedule.

• Ensure progress reports are completed and relayed to Project Controls (Management).

• Lead daily planning meetings with Managers to ensure the plan is on target.

• Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of direct reports.

• Partner with Human Resources to align people strategies to business objectives.

• Conduct direct reports performance review plans and assessments.

Skills

• Excellent budgeting, costing and scheduling skills

• Strong computer skills with MS Office and Project Management Systems

• Strong leadership skills with experience managing all disciplines, internal employees and external sub-trades

• Ability to inspire trust in difficult situations by instilling confidence and engaging people on matters that affect them

• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges

• Works within tight deadlines and prioritizes of work to achieve them

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through speaking to groups of employees on site, and communicating to a variety of stakeholders including clients, management, and site employees
