Position Overview:
A Packaging Operator is part of a team that work on the packaging lines in a safe and efficient manner. They work to meet production targets on a daily basis.
Duties and responsibilities
- Operation of all packaging equipment including:
- 8 head liquid filler
- Alcohol filler
- Gel filler
- Single and double heads fillers
- Gobble filler
- Labeling machines
- Induction sealers
- Ink jet coding equipment
- Powder sealer
- Other equipment as required
- Good working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
- To follow instructions as outlined in written work instructions
- Ability and competency in preparation of documentation required
- Comply with ISO 9001 specifications and GMP regulations
- Knowledge of WHMIS
- To work in a safe manner at all times
- Packaging of Dental Pharmaceuticals and Disinfectants
- Knowledge of basic Setup and Clean-up of the packaging lines
- Knowledge of all packaging components used in the department and how to locate them
- To work independently or in a group atmosphere as required
- Will follow the responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Health and Safety Act, section 28 under formal training as per Work Instruction #FM2012
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities/Characteristics:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Ability to follow instructions with accuracy
Experience:
- One year experience in a production environment preferred.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical production environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of GMPs is preferred.
Working conditions
- Work is performed in manufacturing environment.
- Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures of air and water.
- The floor may be slippery.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and strong smells.
- The environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
Physical requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to:
- Lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to a maximum of 25 kilograms
- Ability to communicate with others with accuracy
- Ability to read a variety of materials; including SOP’s, order requests, safety labels and work instructions
- Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment
- Ability to stand and walk, bend at the waist, kneel or crouch
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Climb a step stool or ladder and reach hands above shoulders
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
