Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Parks Services, the Parks Services Coordinator provides expertise and coordination for the delivery of Parks Services strategic initiatives, programs, and future planning. This position will assist the Manager, Parks Services, in day-to-day operations, budget reporting, and project management / contract management.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of Parks Services plans and projects as per the Public Works Business Plan and the City’s 10-year Capital Plan.
- Provide operational insight, coordination, data gathering, synthesizing and analysis of the Public Works Business Plan and the City’s 10-Year capital Plan.
- Assist with projects and programs as identified through the budget process or as requested by Senior Management.
- Coordinate projects and studies associated with the Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery, including planning, coordination, implementation, and control/evaluation.
- Coordinate the Naturalization program and liaise with stakeholders.
- Maintain record of City tree inventory and tree replacement program.
- Coordinate maintenance agreements with stakeholders. Liaise on behalf of Parks Services with community groups.
- Working with the Engineering business unit, coordinate Parks Services support and input to the Construction Completion Certificate and Final Acceptance Certificate inspection process.
- Support Project Management Business Unit and provide input during the planning and the development of new Parks, amenities, and rehabilitation projects.
- Act as a liaison with the Planning Department for the development of departmental plan.
Qualifications
This position requires the completion of a Post Secondary diploma in Parks and Recreation, Environmental Studies, Business Management, Project Management, or related field. Equivalences of education and experience may be considered. A certificate in Public Participation, Community Engagement and an International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Designation are considered assets. A minimum of 3 years in a related field with project and contract management experience is required. Knowledge in landscape construction best practices with respect to community development is essential. The successful candidate must have the ability to be self-directed within a fast paced, team environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
