Requires a Cook at the Goderich Child Care Centre
The Part-Time Cook is responsible for providing nutritious lunches and snacks for children at the Municipal Childcare Centre.
Under the direction of the Childcare Services Manager, the successful applicant will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- On behalf of the Centre, purchase supplies sufficient for preparing healthy and nutritious lunches and snacks for children, lifting, and unloading of food orders.
- Preparation of a menu according to municipal, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Preparation of menu items for children with allergies or dietary limitations.
- Follows a set weekly menu to ensure compliance within Health Unit and Ministry guidelines.
- Preparing kitchen area, maintaining in an organized and sanitary condition pursuant to health standards, as well as the cleanup of eating and kitchen areas following daily use.
- Ensures food is stored and handled properly and in compliance with food safety standards.
- Prepares and maintains the kitchen area, in an organized and sanitary condition pursuant to health standards, as well as performs cleanup of eating and kitchen areas following daily use.
- Other duties assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Public Health Act and ability to meet the specifications of these regulations and any others that apply to this work.
- Ability to multi-task in a busy/high paced work environment and will be exposed to environmental noise.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is considered an asset.
- Valid Class G Ontario driver’s licence.
- Valid First Aid/CPR-C AED certificates
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement for this position.
The hourly rate of pay is $20.87-$27.62, working up to eight (8) hours per week with opportunity for additional hours when required. The Town of Goderich offers voluntary enrolment into the OMERS Pension Plan, Employee Recognition Programs, and Professional Development Program.
