We have a dynamic opportunity for an individual that has the experience and know how to take charge of the whole payroll function. Someone that is highly proficient in ADP WFN, proactive in identifying and addressing payroll complexities, and has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* This is an in-office position - You are required to be on-site every day.
Duties:
- Administer and manage full-cycle payroll for salary and hourly employees, including premium rates and overtime, on a bi-weekly basis through ADP, while ensuring compliance with current government legislation.
- Complete the onboarding of new employees in ADP and maintain complete and accurate employee records.
- Collect banking information for payroll direct deposits and initiate deposits on paydays.
- Process all terminated employees, and complete offboarding in accordance with current legislative policies.
- Process and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications.
- Liaise with HR and manage enrolment of new hires, corporate benefit and RRSP contributions and deductions, LTD claims, and implementation of new policies, programs, and other relevant matters.
- Train and coordinate with managers to ensure accurate submission of hours, vacation, and time off requests, and missed time.
- Perform weekly overtime audits, responding to questions regarding pay policies and procedures.
- Assemble reports of employee earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability payments and non-taxable wages ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Prepare all government remittances as required by law within the timeframes required and reconcile payroll records to monthly statements.
- Prepare year end employee tax slips or forms and submit government filings to meet deadlines.
- Stay abreast of the payroll processing system and changes in local wage/tax laws and apply changes as appropriate.
- Respond to all payroll enquiries from employees, management and external government agencies.
- Maintain confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Support the A/P and A/R departments in daily processing as well as year-end reporting.
- Additional duties as required.
* Please note this is a stand alone position, the ideal candidate will be able to complete the whole ADP WFN cycle independently.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years payroll experience with at least 3 years managing the payroll cycle.
- Must have recent experience working with and initializing full set up in ADP from onset.
- Ability to complete full-cycle payroll, with advanced proficiency in ADP employee processing.
- In-depth knowledge of multi-provincial taxation and payroll standards.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a business/accounting/payroll program.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is preferred.
- A certified Payroll Manager (CPM) would be an asset.
- Excellent organizational, time management and decision-making skills to effectively manage deadlines and changing priorities; can multi-task between competing priorities and handle a large workload within tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong, positive communication skills (written and verbal).
