Payroll Specialist

KeyAccountabilities:

The Payroll and Accounts Payable Administrator will lead both the payroll and accounts payable functions, and support employee benefits and financial reporting of the Finance Division. You will report to the VP, Finance/Controller.

KeyResponsibilities:

• Process and oversee the full-cycle payroll
• Gather, prepare, arrange, and process bi-weekly payroll for roughly120 employees and contractor within the deadline for both Canada and United States
• Verify employee and consultant time entries
• Reconcile all associated payroll accounts
• Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
• Ensure compliance with Provincial/Federal government legislation and internal policies and procedures including required regulatory reporting
• Post and balance semi-monthly payments to contractors
• Manage all online banking entries including but not limited to transfers, EFT’s, tax installments
• Prepare semi-monthly payment runs on QuickBooks desktop
• Take reasonable care and action to protect your safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions
• Ensure proper use of safety equipment, clothing and devices
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses
• Comply with LandSolutions policies and procedures, applicable laws and the OH&S Act

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3+ years processing all payroll functions for a variety of pay types (hourly, salaried, contract, limited term)
• A Payroll Certificate is considered an asset
• Employee Benefit administration experience, an asset
• Proficiency with UKG payroll is considered an asset
• Advanced skills with Excel (regular use of pivot tables) and Quickbooks
• Fully competent with Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
• Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Able to work in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize work, within tight deadlines

Special Demands:

• Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Able to work outside of normal working hours occasionally
