Job description

At Holmes Agro, we pride ourselves on being a reputable agricultural crop inputs retailer with over 25 years of successful business. This is an-in office role, which can be based in any of our three locations: our main office located in Orangeville, or satellite offices in Redickville and Stayner. This is a part time position, ideally 2-3 days a week with flexible hours.

We recognize that our success is intertwined with the growth and success of our employees; as such we are seeking an energetic Human Resources professional to spearhead our People & Culture initiatives. This newly created position is designed for an HR professional who thrives in a progressive and employee-centric environment. You will report to our Manager of Human Resources and Finance and will work within all Human Resource Functions in collaboration with the management team. Your first order of business will be to develop an employee performance review, and professional development program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performance Management:

  • Champion a performance management program which involves development, implementation , monitoring, and accountability.
  • Develop, implement and manage a professional development program

Culture Development:

  • Foster and promote a positive and inclusive company culture that aligns with the organization's values and goals
  • Implement programs and initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and overall job satisfaction

Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Develop, manage and maintain HR policies and HR procedures
  • Ensure labour laws and industry regulations are followed and complied with
  • Ensure employee handbook is applicable and up to date

Employee Relations and Retention:

  • Act as a point of contact for employees, addressing queries, concerns, and providing guidance
  • Mediate and resolve any employee issues, ensuring a harmonious work environment

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and manage the recruitment process, including our Student Internship program
  • Ensuring we are attracting, hiring and retaining top talent industry professionals
  • Update and develop job descriptions for all positions as required

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports as needed
  • Assist with payroll, benefits and pension as required

Provide any additional support to Manager of Human Resources and Finance as required

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources; CPHR designation is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a People & Culture/Human Resources position
  • Experience in independently developing and managing an employee performance and development program
  • Strong experience in employee relations
  • Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Competent in working with Microsoft suite and HRIS systems
  • Experienced in working with psychometric profiling, ideally in DISC
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
