TLDR: Seeking a Personal Assistant to be our Managing Director’s right hand—no traditional experience required, just your innate organizational wizardry and cheerful adaptability.
Introduction
Altitude Capital is an atypical finance company; created by nerds, for nerds.
We’re a tech-forward, neurodiverse- and queer-friendly small team with a startup vibe and believe our professionalism comes from our work not our culture.
Our work environment is casual (no dress code here!) and task-oriented, focusing on getting the job done while enjoying the journey.
This is not your typical stuffy corporate job — we’re all about bringing a creative and vibrant energy to our work.
Unrepentantly nerdy: the vibes must flow; may the fun be with us; innovate, collaborate, and prosper!
About the Role
Personal Assistant: The Force Behind the Force
You’ll be the second brain for our Managing Director: helping to streamline and coordinate his day, sprucing up the office, and occasionally stepping in to peel paperwork gremlins off our Executive Assistant.
You’ll be fielding tasks from drafting nuanced emails to important professionals to taking out the trash.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordination: you are the master of his to-do list!
- Out of office tasks: running errands, handling personal and business shopping, and managing deliveries.
- Office tasks: tidying the office, scanning receipts, and sorting mail.
- Other tasks: as needed.
It's a position that calls for flexibility, creativity, and the ability to anticipate the needs of our Managing Director.
This role doesn’t call for a seasoned veteran of the corporate world but for someone with the right combination of qualities and a stellar capacity to learn.
We're less concerned with where you've been and more excited about where you're going!
Who You Are
- You're a master of multitasking, with an innate ability to juggle varied tasks while maintaining a calm and supportive presence.
- Your superpowers include exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for creating an inclusive, supportive environment.
- Ready to take initiative to ensure tasks get done; your approach to challenges is both creative and strategic, ready to pivot with a positive attitude.
- Previous experience in our industry or as an assistant? Not required. It’s your unique blend of traits that matters most to us.
Skills and Qualifications
- Empathetic and Effective Communicator: You bring understanding and empathy to your interactions with others, encouraging open and supportive collaboration.
- Articulate and Persistent: Drafting a delicately worded email or assertively addressing customer service agents over the phone should be a breeze for your skills. Establish your dominance!
- Organizational Guru: Your planning and organizational skills occasionally unnerve your friends. Why shouldn’t your movie nights be in a spreadsheet?
- Tech Fluent: Willing to navigate and master whatever esoteric software, office slang, or systems come your way. Familiarity with the Apple ecosystem is a major bonus.
- Adaptable and Resilient: You thrive in fast-paced, ever-changing environments with a smile. Memes are a Key Performance Metric; bring humour to the eye of the storm!
- Innate Problem-Solver: You’re creative and analytical, ready to tackle challenges with innovative solutions. Ideas and input are more important than who thought of it first.
Requirements
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent, and a demonstrated keen interest in learning. No post-secondary degree, but you are an avid learner? Tell us about your self-directed education!
- Background Check: Due to the sensitive nature of our work, candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
- Language Skills: As you will be accessing and reviewing executive level documents, candidates must have proficiency in English equivalent to a Native or Bilingual speaker.
What We Offer
As part of Altitude Capital, you’ll join a team that values diversity of thought and background.
- Training and development: We’re interested in supporting you as you gain experience and develop your professional skills both existing and new. You bring the core traits, we’ll bring the polish!
- Compensation: $22-$27 hourly, depending on skills and experience.
- Benefits: Enjoy networking at company events, paid time off, staff lunches, on-site parking, RRSP matching, and more!
- Location: This role is in-person either at our innovative office, or the Managing Director’s home, both located in Yaletown, Vancouver.
- Flexible work culture: We value work-life balance; this role is a minimum of 3 days per week, up to 5 days per week as needed.
Our regular office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with occasional flexibility required for early starts and late finishes. After-hours or weekend commitments are rare.
We prioritize a collaborative environment, so work hours and scheduled days are flexible; if you’re the right candidate and you need every Wednesday afternoon off to livestream with your influencer hamster, we’re willing to accommodate you!
How to Apply
Is this position a match for your talents? Instead of a formal resume and cover letter, we’re leaving it up to you to tell us why you are a good fit for the job!
Show us what makes you the right candidate; it can be your resume, LinkedIn, an email, your portfolio, etc. Whatever demonstrates why you are indeed the nerd we’re looking for!
