About Potash
The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Purpose
This role will oversee the development and implementation of the Integrated Management System, delivering the project within scope and budget, and ensuring that it incorporates the overlapping and/or common requirements that supports a Safety Management System, an Environment Management System, a Quality Management System and various sustainability standards.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with key people across multi-functional and operational teams, creating a network of influence that contributes to business goals.
  • Ensure principles of simplification are applied, whilst driving and implementing changes to performance requirements, process and tools, aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Coach Element Leads/Champions through chosen project methodology, ensuring technical accuracy, whilst incorporating the application of governance and assurance frameworks and practices.
  • Coordinate resources for the execution of IMS project.
  • Identify and analyze complex problems and made recommendations, cutting through complexity and ambiguity to help others understand key issues.
  • Develop and manage project plans and schedules.
  • Direct and influence team members by providing clear vision, context and objectives to deliver improvement outcomes.
  • Manage routines that monitor and measure individual element performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Understand and regularly discuss the role of risk management, coaching and providing guidance to element stakeholders to establish, review, critically analyze and effectively control and mitigate risk.
  • Create and maintain tools for sustainable usage of the IMS.
About You
  • Post secondary education in relevant discipline.
  • Solid technical background, with understanding of Safety Management Systems (e.g. Safety, Quality, Environment).
  • A background in Health, Safety or Environment Management, Budgeting and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards - ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001
  • Inclusive leadership style with excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Have an understanding of Human Factors as they relate to operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal/provincial Legislations.
Work Location and Schedule
Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. Occasional visits to site may be required.
