Job Overview
Process all work related to the FirstOntario Credit Union's suite of credit products with a high level of efficiency to provide superior service to the retail network.

Major Activities

  • Assist retail network in solving problems by assisting with all aspects of delinquency for credit facilities.
  • Follow loss prevention strategies to protect the interests of the Credit Union.
  • Assist with identification of skill gaps in the retail network.
  • Analyze delinquent facilities and execute corrective action.
  • Work with the asset team to ensure maximum efficiency in support of service delivery.
  • Process credit/collection related work with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate account details and arrangements.
  • Conduct file audits to ensure documentation is complete and correct.
  • Adhere to audit and control policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate directly with members to facilitate a satisfactory resolution for collection and recovery of delinquent accounts.
  • Correspond in a professional manner.
  • Ensure FirstOntario Credit Union policies are adhered to.
  • Maintain satisfactory delinquency ratios.
  • Implement strong investigative skills to locate member's residence, employment and location of security.
  • Perform all other work related duties, as assigned.


Operations

Basic Tasks Include:

  • Provide support to branches.
  • Compilation of all in-house reports required.
  • Process all files received from the branches, documenting as appropriate.
  • Receive notices of bankruptcy and obtain files from branches.
  • File claims and follow up with trustees.
  • Obtain up-to-date lien searches where appropriate.
  • Review, process & if necessary, respond to all incoming documentation & correspondence related to member including garnishees, 3rd parties, etc.
  • Seize and liquidate security, involving lawyers, small claims court, etc.
  • Process all entries related to collection work.
  • Provide support to other areas within asset management team as required.
  • Miscellaneous sundry duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Must have above average communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work well with minimum of supervision.
  • Must be capable of working as a team player, willing to assist other staff as required.
  • Must be flexible and prepared to work hours established to meet member service demands.
  • Must be willing to learn and apply coaching.

Job Specifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Typing 30 wpm.
  • On-line exposure.

Established contacts with:

  • Peers, other team members and the Manager, Assets.
  • Retail network team members.
  • External suppliers, such as lawyers, TransUnion, Small Claims Court, CMHC, CUIS, FirstCanadian, Municipalities, Registry Office, Appraisers, Other Financial Institutions, Collection Agencies, Bailiffs, Process Servers, Credit Counseling, Government Offices, Car Dealers, etc.
